Since 1970
Chitchyan has been the member of the Board of Administration of the Composers Union of Armenia.

She was the member of the Board of Administration of the Musical Society of Armenia, in 1990s she was elected to the Auditing Commission of the Union of Composers of the USSR.

She was the Deputy of four callings of the Yerevan Municipality (XVII, XVIII, XIX, XX).

She was is the founding member of the Presidium of the Women’s Republican Council of Armenia.
