The Concerto for Violin and Orchestra of Geghuni Chitchyan is her new achievement. Her works have always fascinated by lyrical pureness, exclusive taste, some special truth of feelings… here we see a larger scale of thought, a real mastery of mature artist, possessing large forms, orchestra, polyphony. Everything here is emotional, interesting and thus modern in the best meaning of the word.

I like Geghuni Chitchyan’s Concerto for Violin because it is very much alike the author. It is attractive without attracting ferocity, meditative-sensitive without pretending to be wise, vigorous without forcible vivacity. It is nice that the queen of musical instruments displays itself that way by request of such a rich picturesque world of an Armenian woman.

In Chitchyan’s rich and beautiful compositions, the rhythmic forms and extraordinary harmonious constructions are especially interesting.

What a fantasy, intelligence and professionalism should the composer be endowed with to write such music. Chitchyan’s Concerto for Voice looks like a diamond.

Overture of Geghuni Chitchyan is a small work of a very radiant character, with vivid dancing theme, bright national rhythms. It will surely become repertory and sound in many concerts and by radio. It very well displays the spirit of holiday, youth, living sense of life.

Pieces of Chitchyan are full of wittiness, brilliance, elegance. She has showed her worth as a splendid master f orchestra. The Seven Symphonic Pictures for Children are done in a jeweler’s manner, each instrument bears an image, the colors are transparent and light.
Zh. Dozortseva
Geghuni Chitchyan’s music for children brings light and joyful feeling, it is the music of a delicate, clever, talented human being.

Geghuni Chitchyanis one of the talented composers of the Soviet Armenia. Sensitiveness, melodious plasticity, delicate taste and folk colour give to Chitchyan‘s creative work special peculiarity.
Choruses of Chitchyan are written with great knowledge of chorus writing rules, skilled usage of expressive means of chorus.
Chitchyan is a composer who is in love wither land. And her chorus is her images of Armenia, its history, people, nature with the palette of colours, characters, musical row. And all this is done through the handwriting of musician-lyric, who feels the nicety of emotions and the fascination of poetry…

Geghuni Chitchyan is one of the masters of romance today. Delicate sense of musical psychology, nobleness and spirituality of reading a poem are evidence of the vitality of her romances.

In 1968 Geghuni Chitchyan created symphonic overture “Hello, Morning!”, which won the first prize at all-Union contest.
In her earlier symphonic works (Children’s pages, Concerto for Voice with Orchestra and others) the personal creative trains of this talented author appeared. These traits came out wider and brighter in overture “Hello, Morning!”. The work differs by its delicate taste, bright, festive mood which is expressed very vigorously and distinctly. The overture is well-balanced, orchestrated colorfully and transparently. With its folk coloring intonation, attractive rhythm the overture bears the seal of national peculiarity.

The Concerto for Violin with Orchestra of Geghuni Chttchyan is a new great achievement of the author. You are always captured by the lyric pureness, excellent taste, some peculiar truth in expressing the feelings in the works of G. Chitchyan. These qualities are also felt in the Concerto for violin, but here we see some different, considerably larger scale of thoughts, the real quality of mature artist who has the command of large form, orchestra, polyphony. Everything here is emotional, rich in contest and due to that is modern, in the good sense of the word.
