Chitchyan’s music is multi-genre: from symphonic canvases to songs. Her Ballet Suite, Chamber Symphony For Strings In Memory of A. Khachaturian, Overture, Symphonic Pictures, Concertos: For Voice And Orchestra, For Violin And Orchestra, For Piano And Orchestra – gained wide recognition and were performed in Armenia and abroad.
Her seven Sonatas: For Piano, For Violoncello And Piano, For Viola And Piano, For Clarinet And Piano, For Oud And Piano, For Trumpet And Piano, For Violoncello Solo, the piano cycle Armenian Bas-Relieves, Epitaph for piano, Concert Pieces For Wind, Wind Quintet, Quintet For Five Flutes, Trio Estamps, String Quartet, Piano Ensembles For 4 Hands has enriched the repertoire of national chamber instrumental music and exceeded the bounds of the country.
Today Chitchyan is considered to be the master of romance. Her 9 vocal cycles with lyrics of the prominent Armenian poets, romances, songs have taken up their deserving place in singers’ repertoire in Armenia and abroad. Chitchyan’s vocal works: cantata My Armenia and Seasons Of The Year, poem-requiem The Unknown Soldier, poem Tree Of Armenia, choral pieces Three Prayers by the poems of Mushegh Ishkhan, choral pieces by the poems of Y. Charents, etc. have expanded the repertoire of choirs in Armenia and Diaspora.
The composer’s great number of works for children in different genres have significantly contributed to Armenian music. More than one generation of children have been brought up on her music. The best ones are included into education programs of Armenia, Russia, France, Spain, the USA and other countries.
The music of Chicthyan was published in Moscow, Yerevan, Kiev, Switzerland, Lebanon, Great Britain.
